Repairs

We offer a repair service for instruments. Brass repairs are sent to our brass repairer. Woodwind and string repairs are dealt with in our workshop above the shop. We have a general price list for repairs, but in order to give a more accurate estimate we would really have to see the instrument.

We cannot stress enough that if something does go wrong with your instrument the first thing you should do is bring it to us. There have been countless occasions where instruments have been made worse by people by picking up hammers and wrenches in an attempt to fix them themselves. Just call in.

Flute & Clarinet Full Overhaul – £175 (approx. two weeks)

All key-work removed and cleaned
Body and screws cleaned
All pads replaced
All key corks replaced
Joint corks replaced on clarinets
Head joint cork replaced on flutes
Key-work oiled and re-aligned
Key-work balanced and regulated

Flute & Clarinet Full Service – £75 to £95 (approx. one week)

All key-work removed and cleaned
Body and screws cleaned
Pads replaced as required
Corks replaced as required
Joint corks replaced only if needed
Head joint cork replaced on flute if needed
Key-work oiled and re-aligned
Key-work balanced and regulated

Flute & Clarinet Minimum Playing Order – £15 to £30 (approx. four days)

Re-align keys
Change corks if needed
Any work required to make instrument playable

Saxophone Full Overhaul – £300 (approx. three weeks)

All key-work removed and cleaned
Tone holes filed
Body washed and polished
Screws cleaned
All pads replaced (with premium deluxe pads)
All key corks replaced
Springs checked (and replaced only if necessary)
Crook cork replaced
Key-work re-aligned as required
Attention to any excess sideways movement of keys
Key-work regulated
Key-work balanced and oiled

Any dent removal or soldering would incur an additional charge.

Saxophone Full Service – £130 (approx. two weeks)

All key-work removed and cleaned
Tone holes filed
Body washed and polished
Screws cleaned
Pads replaced only if required
Key corks replaced if required
Springs checked (and replaced only if necessary)
Crook cork replaced if required
Key-work re-aligned as required
Attention to any excess sideways movement of keys
Key-work regulated
Key-work balanced and oiled

Oboe Full Service – £70 to £90 (approx. one week)

All key-work removed and cleaned

Pads replaced as required

Joint corks replaced only if needed
Key-work oiled and re-aligned
Key-work balanced and regulated

Oboe Minimum Playing Order – £15 to £30 (approx. four days)
